WINNER11 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 The lack of new iD Hot Wheels and the low stock of them at Target has me worried that this may be the end of the series. My better sense tells me it's not, but, it is looking grim. Quote
BIGEASYSAINT Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 The local Target has about 3.5 trays of id cars. The last box that came in had a great selection, but not the new Fiat. That tray was placed below the basic HWs, which is also where all the portals are. They haven't had the track set for a month or more. The other 2.5 trays are on a different end cap than the initial id display. I don't believe any of those have moved since the reset; most customers may not even know they are there as it is as far from the diecast aisle as it can be. I also keep checking apple.com and amazon.com for new id cars. I'm not worried yet, but I would like the Fiat and the next wave to show up so I don't have to worry! 1 Quote Plucker Punched! * You'll either like the Room of Doom or you'll go to bed without your Hot Wheel!!! The low stock is an indication that people are buying and the warehouse possibly doesn't have enough stock to send to your area. They are most likely waiting for the 2020 shipments. SAMACE26 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 (edited) I'm still missing some from Last year that none of my stores around here got in. The last ones my targets got in around here are the ones with the scooby doo mystery machine van and the last ones my apple store got in are the ones with the Darth Vader character car. So now I can't wait until my stores start getting in the new 2020 hotwheels ID cars. ? Edited January 29, 2020 by SAMACE26 1 Quote
Aaronwyatt1981 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Just completed series one. That was a goal. I'm not going to complete any more series of them because they cost so much. For series 2 on I'm just gonna get cars I like. I wish they were 5$ or less. 2 Quote
DRDEAL Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Target discontinued the Track Sets due to slow sales. The cars and portals are staying for this planogram period which runs through August. 2020 should appear soon ; but may be held up by Corona Virus slowdown. Quote
Ltlgto Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Our Target had em’ on sale for $3.99 for a short time and picked a couple up, otherwise they just seem to sit on the trays for $6.99. Quote
ReckerTA Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 (edited) I expect sales to increase this year. By quite a bit. I think last year hurt them a lot because they first came out only from apple, and then on Amazon. You didn’t get any in the actual stores until October, when they came to target. And what I found about this hobby this past year is that there are a ton of collectors that never buy anything online. Only what they buy in the stores. Not from Amazon or other online stores. Just in physical retail stores. Yes, they buy from this site, but that’s a little bit different. That’s the only place to get those cars. I can tell you that at my local targets, I can count on one hand the amount of castings I saw that the normal Collector would go for. The first two waves never hit retail stores. And when they did after October, there was very few of them in the cases. How many saw a Boneshaker, a C7 Corvette, Dodge Viper, Dodge charger, a Lamborghini Miura, Nissan GT-R, The Aston Martin, Rodger Dodger or any of those castings at a Target? I saw zero of most of those. And I hit my Target 4 times a week. And those are all castings that were probably the best of the year. And they were only out on Amazon and Apple. Target got very few. Some of those they got none due to being exclusive to Apple or Amazon. The problem is the fantasy castings will clog up the shelves and then the real casings that actually get purchased will not sell. Because they will not get more in, because they still have stock of the fantasy castings. They need to make sure that they don’t produce the same amount of everyone I think. If they made more of the licensed castings they would move better, which would also turn over the other castings. But this year I expect better sales just for because of the fact that all of the casting should be available at retail locally. One of my good friends only buys and hot wheels with real riders or redlines on them. Very few hard wheel castings. Yet this year he purchased the Jurassic Park jeep, the 66 Batmobile, the knight rider car, the mystery machine, and maybe one more at target. But I guarantee you if those other castings were at target he would’ve purchased the majority of them. But he will never own them because they are only on Amazon or Apple. We don’t have a local Apple Store. But he definitely would’ve purchased those if he found them on the shelf at target. And he is ok without owning them. But if they were sitting in front of him on the shelf, I 100% guarantee that he purchases them. Because honestly, they are some freaking fantastic looking cars. THINICE Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 It's a high priced toy most parents won't fork out unless it's for a special occasion, like Christmas. 7 bucks for a fantasy casting that don't appeal to adults will obviously cause them to sit. In addition, Amazon Prime has them for the same price, free shipping, and does not require me to scour the pegs three times a week to get the ones I want. There are only a handful of non Amazon exclusives, and honestly the only one of the exclusives released as of this post that stood out as a must have for me was the 66 Batmobile (why pay 60 bucks off market for the super when the ID has the same stuff without the RR?). That leaves maybe three other cars that cannot be bought on Amazon. If they want these cars to sell, put new rims on them and make them look like Supers. This is a line where I'll collect only the few that look good. Quote
