I think of them as the true Mainlines. We get how many premiums a year??? Maybe 100?  They have the all metal body/chassis and to me are closer to what Hot wheels Mainlines used to be before all the plastic.  Plus the number released are closer to how many mains were released back in the day. Todays 99¢ mains...we get what??.... Almost one for every day of the year. 300 plus. Sometimes less but we'll over 200.

Nah, you're numbers aren't fully fleshed out.

There were 24 different Beatnik Bandits made in 1968. That's just the colors with either a HK or USA base.

Say that's on the high side and there's only 15 of the all the others made that year.

That's well over 200 different combos.

Oh. I thought that first year there were only over 80 unique different combos

Still though what about the 70's. With all the color combos....maybe 100 per year at most???

Currently there are around 450 unique mainline SKUs released every year.

And today's premiums are what they are labeled as, premiums. I would not compare them to the past's mainlines which were metal/metal because today's premiums have both metal/metal composition, real riders, as well as full premium deco. The mainlines of the past had some of those, but not all 3 at once.

Yeah I know they are nicer than yesterday's Mainlines. But they are also much closer to them than current Mainlines...... premium label or not. They still remind me of old Mainlines and I think of them in that regard....

Does that 450 include all the mainline exclusives?

What ever you call them, I only buy premiums these days. Maybe  two mainlines last year.

Same here. I really enjoy having my focus so narrowed down now. I almost want to get rid of all the mains I bought the last 4 years. I may do just that this year.

Yeah me too.  Premiums only now, and I’m even getting picky about those.  Kinda nice not having to rummage through dump bins and full pegs looking for a certain car.  I’m over it.

Been working on that for months. Give some away, Sell some. Could take years.
