Hi All.  Been a while and I mean a while since I have been on the boards.  Due Kmart holdings and Sears not doing so well, am I to assume that the Collectors Day that we all loved is over.  I know last year Kroger and Game Stop got into the action.  But I have not heard anything lately.  Just asking, thanks.

There is a Treasure Hunt with my name on it out there, I just have to find it!

They said Dollar General would take over a mail-in at the last convention. Unknown if they will do an event or just get special cases. I'm thinking they will only get cases. An event would overrun DG's staff.

Dollar general will be doing the first mail-in for this year next month. But I think dollar general will just be getting special cases with exclusive cars and first to market cars in they're stores. But I don't think they'll be doing an actual event in they're stores.

Why don't they just sell the cases here and include the car in the case, they would get all the money.

Retailers (Mattel's customers) do not like it when Mattel competes directly against them selling new retail product directly to the public.

That would just be too logical and convenient and profitable They prefer rumors, missed opportunities and complaints.?

See my explanation above. There are reasons why they don't do it. The only times they have been able to are when the cases aren't quite new.

A lot of retailers don’t seem to embrace collectors and prefer to stock higher priced merchandise instead of something that can move quicker. Particularly when the most current cars are sold. The vast majority seem to get two cases only now and could not support a mail in 144 cars = approx 7 mail ins if priced at twenty bucks per mail in car. Also a lot of stores don’t participate in the offer either. Most recently Kmart and Game Stop reflect this. The latter had one case per store at every one visited so far and some with exclusive event cars. So having a chance to buy the event cars makes sense to us. We can still buy the mainlines at other retailers so nobody would miss out on the offer. With an online choice (presuming not all event retail locations participate) ,and they run out of  sufficient cars to qualify.
