1steditionman Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 I got these recently. Due to the local unavailability of recent offerings, I’ve renewed efforts to buy older casting debuts/First Eds/New Models. I am almost complete from 1990-2019 (I’ve been picking these from the pegs real-time since 1997). Now I want to complete the 1980’s. 1 Quote https://plus.google.com/b/111913890812768279514/111913890812768279514 [attachment=:name]

loaf Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Nice! Did you know that completing the 80s will set you back thousands? Some of those Real Riders are hundreds of dollars each ...and there's a blackwall thread you coulda stuck these in. Quote Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about

On completing the 1980's, I'll just get cheaper place-holder recolors until I can replace them with originals. THINICE Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 YouTube Wtffor on YouTube if you want to see someone try to complete every variation of 70s-80s Hot Wheels. This guy has spent thousands of dollars and years hunting some of the rarest vintage cars of this era and showcases them on YouTube. Pretty interesting if you are someone who hunts variations from this era. Quote

I will never even try that hard, unless someone sells me his collection cheap, or I score big on a garage sale, (but then no-hunt/no-fun, right?!). Also, if you stick strictly to New Castings/Casting Debuts/First Editions & retools as I do, plus any other premium series that occasionally release a casting debut (my boys at Mattel gotta put food on the table...), it's a lot more doable. Interesting find, just looks like someone that found Zarnock's book and started going down a rabbit hole of buying cars and putting videos out with that info. Curious how long he's been at it, everyone's a youtube hobbyist now it seems. Quote [attachment=:name]

I've been following his videos for a few years now, probably has been vlogging his collection for at around 5 years and showcasing it on YouTube. He does other hobby diecast cars, mainly Greenlight. It's a nice break from all the people who vlog about finding nothing but Treasure Hunts. 1 Quote
