RAM_TED Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 My decision to make a spot check on the arrival of my Tootsie Roll Nova on condition was very disappointing. I am losing my confidence on Mattel's quality control. This is my second item that I have opened to have issues with. The outer box was mint, but when I pulled the wrapper out I saw a tear in the middle, and I got nervous. After unwrapping the cylinder there was a crack on the plastic right behind the torn wrapper. It looks like I will have to open every item that I receive from Mattel from now on. I am losing trust and very upset. Why would they send something damaged?? We are serious collectors!! I am wondering if I should open all my other items that I have purchased in the past. Who knows in what condition those items maybe in. 3 1 Quote
ZAPHOD_NTH Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 mine came cracked too. figured the case would not be so flimsy. car looks good but it was jacked up against the top so probably tried to escape . Quote
CRUSTYOG Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 man for the money they charge for these now this is just a slap in the face, guess they could package a rock in a fancy damaged package and charge $50 and everyone would still buy it, and nothing would change...sad! 1 1 Quote
Donny_K Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) I also have a busted display case. 3 of the cars I bought this year have had an issue. 2 were the actual diecast, and now this came with a busted display case. Edited February 27, 2020 by Donny_K Added info Quote

Indeed. I'm happy I skipped out on this one. With all the issues the last few have had.(with me getting two with issues last year) I don't think I could have handled a third. Still haven't opened my Lambo yet for fear that one will be messed up as well. ? Quote
HW_DUDE Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 That stinks! Got 2 coming on Saturday, crossing my fingers hope cs can help. Quote
SADDLEBACK Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Found mine on the porch today. Box looked fine, but upon opening, I found the “Tootsie Roll” display case was cracked , as was the internal plastic piece that holds the car in place. What a bummer, especially after spending just under $40 on it. Hey Mattel.....you packaging SUCKS????? The “Tootsie Roll’r” box and display case are larger than the past, acrylic case offerings, yet the shipping box was the same size. It was stuffed in a box that was too small!!!! And NO, I’m not going to send it back. I like the car. I’ll just display it loose. Just wish Mattel would do a better job!!!! 1 Quote
