If you think about it, having a camera go down with a car was cool. The main issue is that you have too many cars and too little cameras. The camera is what, a hundred dollars? And then you have multiple iterations per year of a one dollar car. So now we have a saturation of these cars that really have no where to go cause neither collectors nor kids are going to be purchasing these cars willingly.

What they also didn't take into consideration was that the Gopros that fit this car are no longer released commercially. They are older camera models that retailers no longer sell. The new ones don't even fit the car. So what you're left is someone who is willing to both buy an older model camera that also wants to use it with Hot Wheels. Very slim margin of audiences you'll reach with those criteria.

What should they have done? They should have kept the casting as an exclusive release with the cameras only. They should have put three cars with the camera as a bundle to allow people to have extras with the set in case one got lost or damaged. That would compensate for the need to have them in the one dollar lineup, where the remaining 99.99% of consumers would not use them.

They could have also made it so that the car could be adjusted and held together to hold future camera models. Obviously moving parts would require a higher than 1 dollar cost tooling, but it could have been sold exclusively as an accessory for cameras in electronics at a higher price. I sure would buy a 5 dollar casting if I knew the car could fit future and existing models of the Gopro.

They should just retire the casting by the end of this year or retool it completely. There's no use in having the car in the mainline set given how little people actually use the car and how unpopular it is as a casting otherwise.

It was a neat casting when it came out, but I knew eventually that model of GoPro would no longer be supported. As is with technology, the dimensions of future GoPros would be altered and the car would essentially become unusable.

I have a couple and they are nice novelties, but if the camera is no longer supported I wouldn't mind seeing it fade off if there are no plans for it to be retooled. I see a lot of the puke-green one all over the place.

I wouldn't discount the GoPro car just yet. I never had one of the GoPro's that fit it but I do have an FPV ('first person view) camera that is for a micro drone. They fit with room to spare on this platform. I can get a live feed from this on my phone using 20 dollar receiver plugged into it or watch it through my goggles I use on my drone. This type of camera costs around $18 at this time. I little hot glue to mount the camera makes a tough mount but can be removed later. A little velcro on the battery makes for an easy change out.

That's cool, you should put that inside a dairy delivery  or bigger casting and set it up on a collosal crash set, I'd watch a  "hot wheels worst drivers" YouTube video.

Remember when the first release came out and people were grabbing them all...

I wanted one for the novelty of it, but they were impossible to track down.

I ended up grabbing one of each colour as they came out to just have in my collection.  I didn't have a go pro to try it out.  My MIL had a knock off go pro but it didn't fit into the clip.
