Can anyone share the number of units that had been produced of a Limited Edition / Limited release products historically?

A good guess anyone!?

1.000pcs?

10.000pcs?

or several 100.000pcs?

If it isn't given a number on the packaging, there's no official word. I'd bet 10s of thousands for the Hot Wheels iD at a minimum

I heard it told that all hot wheels are limited editions because they don't make the same car with the same deco forever...

That's the most blatant cop-out ever. That's even worse than moms "cause I said so".?

Don't blame mom, it was HWCVan who said it at the L. A. Convention, 2018...

modern hot wheels (post 1990's) are all limited editions, to the number produced.  more so, because there are so many  veriations, that happen much more frequently. then they used to be in the 70's and 80's the same car would have 3 or more different wheels in the same year. and now colors change on many cars also inside the same year.  production may be higher then they used to be.. but there are more people buying them also.

I can remember when out side of shade differences  the cars would be released in the same color paint and with the same tampo's  for multiple years in a row. and with the same wheels.

these days production of each release is set to a  number for all cars, based on the line they are made for. and they are all produced at that set  level. no more, and no less.

when production is done, they strip and clean all the machines and tools  in preperation for the next quarter or  year to start production. TAZ
