RouenSims Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Tonight’s project was to appreciate the dolls I already have, instead of always thinking about the dolls I want to buy. I started out by picking my favorite doll of each male Mattel body type I own. But then as I went along, I became equally interested in documenting the fabulous diversity of male Mattel body types. This is not an exhaustive list of body types, because for example, I no longer own a Ricky or a Kevin doll. I also didn’t include Mattel dolls that are much smaller than Barbies, like Kiddles. And I didn’t include variations in body types that I consider minor, like dolls with similar bodies, but different hand sculpts. Also, the names I give the body types may not be the “official” name, but rather than name I think of them as. Vintage Ken, Bendleg Ken, Shortie Vintage Ken, Silkstone Vintage Ken, Mod Ken Strung-Waist Ken, Scott, Bent-Arm Ken, Bent-Arm Rotational Neck, Bent-Arm Rotational Cap Neck 5 2 Quote

RouenSims Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 (edited) Free Moving Ken is another one with a body type I no longer own. The listed names are generally not the name of the doll, just the body type. Edited July 30 by RouenSims 4 Quote

It was fun spending time with some of my favorite dolls. 🙂 I have quite a few of the bodies you mentioned in my collection too, mostly Kens. I bought some of the BTS ones a while ago, just for the fact that I found the fashion really interesting. And it really was, but I don't like the super-deformed, anime-like proportions of that body type. Too bad, those dolls were well made actually... such level of details/quality. 3 Quote
RouenSims Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 (edited) It’s nice to hear that you appreciate the BTS dolls (other than the body type). I feel like they were terribly underrated. Beautiful unique sculpts, rooted hair, full articulation, and so many gorgeous details like shoes with paint and glitter details on the second edition dolls. I also like the unique hands of the second edition dolls. Edited July 30 by RouenSims 4 Quote
RouenSims Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 (edited) I actually like their body type, too. They look realistic compared to the G1 Monster High boys! I wouldn’t mind if their height were closer to Ken’s, though. Edited July 30 by RouenSims 2 Quote
