I have stopped buying these MBX releases, They are not the same quality and finishing as an RLC piece and should not be priced the same.

$10 max. I wanted to support the endeavor at first, but I've skipped the most recent releases.

Yeah my same thought.

Just got my shipping notification. This one I'm excited about because I like the casting. I do agree with the criticism though. At the very least this line needs metal bases. I'll keep saying it until they do it. In fact I have stopped buying a lot these releases because of that. I guess I'm protesting with my wallet at this point.

I concur with most of the criticisms of this vehicle in this thread and this specific product line in general. These are basically minimally enhanced ‘Collector Editions’ (i.e. $5-7 cars) masquerading as RLC quality cars. Even a mega-popular JDM casting like the 510 will sit in the shop indefinitely. I wouldn’t even consider purchasing this unless it’s on a clearance sale at a maximum price of $10. An asking price of $25 for this is not based in reality. Those tacky rims and white plastic front bumper and base are a dealbreaker. If the price ever drops sufficiently to justify purchase, it will still require additional time and effort on my part to do a wheel swap and careful black repaint of the front bumper before I’d even consider displaying this in my collection.

I have been buying the MBX Collectors cars that intrigue me. I’m looking forward to the 510 Rally (en route currently).  There have been some cool winners, but the criticisms about quality and price point are completely fair, especially if we look beyond the boundaries of Mattel’s 1/64 portfolio.

I’m happy with what I bought from the MBX Collectors line, but I recognize the limitations on appeal to a broader audience of collectors (MBX/HW/RLC or otherwise).
