CM Dom Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Hey. MOTU collectors! Eternia has been buzzing since we unveiled the Origins Snake Lair last month at San Diego Comic Con. Thank you to those who completed the survey we released asking for feedback! We appreciate you taking time to let us know how you felt about our upcoming crowdfund. We want to make sure you're just as excited about Origins Snake Lair as we are, which is why we are postponing the launch for the time being. Below you'll find a short video message about our decision from Senior Director of Design, Damon Nee, and Brand Manager, Dylan Price. MOTU_CrowdfundHold_FINAL.mp4 Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work to make our next crowdfund the absolute best it can be! 1 2 1 Quote

They basically just said exactly what CM Dom said above, except they added in that over 5,000 people voted in the survey. Edited August 9 by DEPP76 2 Quote M i C h A e L : )

PatrickG Posted August 10 Posted August 10 So... I'll try to keep this brief. Crowdfunding is essentially like co-op Renaissance patronage. A disproportionately small and passionate group supplying disproportionately high dollar volume. It absolutely doesn't need to be big or small. The average Kickstarter backer was traditionally around $50. I don't think it's only for little guys or big guys, as a little guy who's run multiple successful campaigns. It needs disproportionate passion. It honestly helps if it is polarizing, binary, love it or hate it, as that's perfect for made-to-order, so long as you don't offend everyone else who isn't backing. So the Fan's Choice playset poll had us pick two (no price points as a factor). That's generally going to give the most votes to everyone's second choice, the least objectionable, least polarizing choice. Again, crowdfunds thrive on being polarizing, binary, need it or hard pass. Therefore I'd suggest that a better "ranked choice" voting system would be to VOTE AGAINST TWO and whatever comes out on top wins. That generally should tell you where the passion is! Instead of giving you the middle, least objectionable option, you're finding the passion driver. Quote

Motufan80 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 What does God need with a starship? oops, wrong refrence Why does a company as profitable as Mattel need a crowdfund? This is the profit Mattel made in the last 14 years: https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/MAT/mattel/gross-profit 2 Quote
Makfly Posted August 11 Posted August 11 This is the vision of zero risk. They are sure not to have any losses. They will not have stock, they just produce what was ordered. When financing the Eternia playset I put it in one of my comments on the importance of their economic power Mattel is not a small company on kickstarter. In addition, they are kindly gorging on taxes and shipping costs are good between the USA and the rest of the world there is more than 60% increase. They don't do anything for the international, just look at the site with the recurring bugs during sales etc. As a reminder, we were supposed to have the opening of an exclusively European site in 2022 and you have all noticed that there is nothing to date.
