Andrew-S Posted August 17 Posted August 17 (edited) Not that I’m complaining about Thundercats. I love Thundercats! I will buy Thundercats! Just thinking about it makes me happy! Another great toyline and cartoon. But hey wait now! Aren’t we forgetting something? Doesn’t He-man have Sister? Wasn’t there an awesome toy line? Wasn’t there an incredible cartoon? *spoiler alert- Yes Shouldn’t She-ra origins be a labor of love for Mattel? Why is it so low on the priority list? Edited August 17 by Andrew-S Quote
Motufan80 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Who owns the ip? Who owns the toy right? How likely is it to make money? The market is flooded with origins, the cartoon line, the turtle crossover line and masterverse. (also funko pop and mondo) What cartoon? The one in the 80's? are people still watching those? or the realy angular modern one where she looks like a boy? I thought it wasn't well received? Not that it aired over here to begin with. Quote

It wasn't. The numbers came out and the target demo wasn't interested in it by the time the second half released and the ones who did like it weren't enough to justify production costs so it was canned. What few toys were available for it didn't sell either. it was going up against Monster High and Ever After High and both of them were much more popular with the target demo than She-Ra was. As evidenced, one of them is still around and somehow still selling. Eventually, it became cheaper for Netflix to license Rainbow High (and later, Shadow High and other spin-offs) making them no longer YouTube exclusives, than producing their own regular series. That resulted in that brand eclipsing Monster High and the end of the less popular Ever After High. As you know, Mattel does not own the Rainbow High brand, Lastly, The target demo that She-Ra was aimed at (mass appeal in mind) saw a massive resurgence in popularity of the Barbie brand for obvious reasons. Around the time of the movie i noticed the Barbie section in most stores become a Barbie aisle. Obviously, as a company, they are going to invest time and development in what sells. Outside the current ToG line and Masterverse, the MOTU line is dead at retail in my tri-state area. And, I am now seeing Masterverse and Cartoon getting clearanced out at most locations leaving ToG as the only option. So yes, in the current market, crossovers are selling. However, TMNT has more universal appeal and the ThunderCats will hit hard with initial figures but will not have lasting/staying power that ToG does. Admittedly, I am eager to see what they will do with ThunderCats. 1 Quote
jaybuffone Posted August 18 Posted August 18 They just announced a bunch a princess of power toys at comic con. My guess is they're gonna start coming out around october or november. That's when the new cartoon collection figures came out last year. Quote
PNGwynne Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I thought that POP will be part of the 'toon line--upcoming She-Ra and Hordak, with Frosta mentioned, too. Quote
ArmyofRon Posted August 20 Posted August 20 That's my understanding. They are doing them as part of the Cartoon line and vintage inspired Masterverse releases. As far as I have seen no PoP offerings are being based on the newer Netflix version is it? Quote
Adza Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Some She-Ra Cartoon Collection figures will be releasing before the Thundercat's crossover figures. Quote
DEPP76 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the debut of the She-Ra and the Princess of Power Filmation series. That is more than likely when they're going to start focusing on POP. Quote M i C h A e L : )
