TEDDYSLIVINGBARBIE Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 A spell checker and a grammar checker would help those of us who went through publik school to write better. JUDYRAE Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I second this. I have given up reading a lot of posts because I can't make sense of what is being written. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
Guest blackiegracie Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Oh my gosh! Thank you! Amen! You won't believe how many times I've thought the same thing! I've even thought of making this same suggestion, but I didn't want to seem like an "elitist snob." Honestly, I understand that English is not everyone's first language. I can accept that. Spanish is mine. However, having gone through the US educational system, from kindergarten through 4 years of college, I care about proper spelling and grammar! I may not be perfect in all of my posts (I do make typos and errors) but I actually type my longer comments in Microsoft Word and check for spelling errors. I then copy and paste the text here in the bulletin board. I guess maybe I care too much! I'm often correcting my boyfriend's grammar and pronunciation (which he hates). Smiles Zoila

BTW I went to public school, and I think my spelling and grammar are better than most. Like Zoila, I am forgiving of people for whom English is not their first language, but it seems like some people don't even try. Felicity
JUDYRAE Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I tend to edit my posts before I hit the "post now" button. Troy teases me, saying that I have the soul of an English teacher. I have been in training sessions for the last two days & found several typos in the training manuals. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Guest ETHERIAN1572387739 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I'm so sorry guys if my grammar and spelling is not as good as I want it to be. However if you have any doubt, you can ask me. Pedro
JUDYRAE Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I can usually understand your posts, Pedro, so don't worry. If English were your first language, it would be a different thing entirely. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
Guest ETHERIAN1572387739 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Thanks Judy! I myself realise some times of my typos and grammar mistakes and then I edite them. Lots of mistakes are made when you're in a hurry, right? Other times I leave them as they are so I doubt if they are going to be understood or not. Again, thank you for the feedback! Pedro
Guest blackiegracie Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Pedro your English is excellent! Actually, I find it ironic that the non-native speakers of English that I encounter on doll bulletin boards and through eBay, have better spelling and grammar skills than many Americans do! Its' a sad and embarrassing reflection on our public school system. Smiles Zoila
