GMAD1955 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Thank you for a wonderful season of collecting. I have been an avid collector for a number of years. A friend of Barbie named Christie sparked that passion. I was delighted when the Basic line was created and a black male doll was included with the line. I have collected the majority of the black male dolls that have been produced by Mattel and finally the Shanti line appeared. The result of that line produced Jamal who has gone on to be called Steven and now Ken. The Basic Black male doll was acquired at great cost because my area didn't stock him on the store shelves. By cost, I mean running around town to every toy store to locate him. I had to purchase them on the secondary market. At the beginning of this season I discovered that another black male doll was to be produced and he was to be articulated, had an interesting outfit(not beach wear) and a new face. The doll appeared in the catalog(or was he mentioned?) and in the Shop but when I tried to order him I was too late and he had sold out. I have seen many articulated male dolls produced from the Fashionista line and not one has been black. Why??? Turn the package over and you see a black male character with Barbie and a blond or a brunette male doll so I assumed one would be produced. They say never assume because it makes a .... well you know. I finally located the Texas A & M University Black male doll at Wal Mart and ordered several on line. Ship to Store. One to convert one of the stiff, straight arm Jamal face mold dolls that is always on store shelves. My ordered was cancelled. Reason-Damaged or lost in transit. I was informed to reorder but the doll was removed from their site.(Like Fred Mertz). I feel your company dropped the ball since the Roger Madmen Silkstone doll is still sitiing in the Shop Store at a reduced price for 2 years. Yes you can pat yourself on the back for producing the Flavas line but those interesting bodies have never been produced again. When will you produce a black articulated male dolls for consumers? I'm willing to spend the money because I have several Fashion Royalty black male dolls. Have a super fantastic day. A fan of your design staff.
