KATHIEC Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Once again, a thread has been moved that should not have been. The thread "No dolls have given me a WOW yet" was, for some inexplicable reason, moved to the Off-Topic forum. The facts here are as follows: 1. The thread is indeed about modern Barbie dolls. It is in no way, shape, or form off-topic. 2. At heart, the thread is really no different from the "What's on your list for 2012?" thread -- one is about dolls people like, one is about dolls they don't like. 3. One moderator visited the thread and posted a reply without feeling the compulsion to move the thread to another forum. Let's face it -- you have one moderator who has always moved threads with no rhyme nor reason. She seems to somehow feel that the only posts that should be allowed on this board are irrelevant "copy and paste" posts and posts that are syrupy sunshine and light. Any threads that in any way express disappointment or displeasure are promptly buried. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky that the thread was not moved to Member Complaints and closed (and that's has happened on numerous occasions). If collectors who are hard-core enough to belong to the BFC are disappointed enough in this year's dolls to start and post to a thread about it, I would think that Mattel would be interested in knowing that information, rather than sending the thread to the board version of Siberia. And you can copy-and-paste me on that.
Guest watbetty1572377759 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I have to agree here and usually I stay clear and try to ignore when posts are moved but it has been the growing trend lately. Both this thread and the one titled "Are you Afraid" are talking about Barbie and definitely modern barbie as they were relating to this years dolls and the coming line. I don't understand why it was moved either. I haven't commented on either one of them but I have been reading them. There have been lots of thread lately talking about Barbie...good or bad that have been moved to Off Topic. I thought Off Topic was for and I quote: From member connections to games to favorite TV shows and everything in between; here's the place to talk about it! This is the place for general questions and discussions that don't fit into any of the other categories on this Board. and the Barbie Forum was for and I quote again: Share news about everything in the Modern Doll showcase, including Silkstone™ dolls, designers, high fashion, pop culture, and more! What is the explanation for these threads being moved.
Guest TOYBOX1572402193 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Many threads can easily fit in multiple threads, with the majority originating in the Modern Forum. With complaints about duplicate posts, we do our best to close duplicate posts. With discussions about, "are you afraid" an item will sell out, it's really not about a particular Modern Barbie doll but about what motivates an individual to make a purchase -- that is why it best fits in Off Topic & Member Connections. Off Topic "From member connections to games to favorite TV shows and everything in between; here's the place to talk about it! This is the place for general questions and discussions that don't fit into any of the other categories on this Board." Modern Barbie Dolls "Share news about everything in the Modern Doll showcase, including Silkstone dolls, designers, high fashion, pop culture, and more!" Are You Afraid This is a topic about what motivates someone to buy a doll/item, out of fear that it will sell out and asks how members make a decision. This topic doesn't share news and doesn't talk about a particular Barbie doll but rather about purchases. The topic itself is better suited for the Off Topic forum where we house general discussions. Green Ear/Face Most certainly can stay in the Modern Forum, but because the member is asking for help in removing green ear/face, tips and tricks on this subject are discussed on the Doll Customization forum; doll restoration. Direct questions asking for help about green ear can be better served in Doll Customization, with kind and knowledgable members assisting fellow members, with their tips and tricks -- a simple search will also pull up multiple inquiries along with helpful dicussions on this topic. No Dolls Have Given Me a Wow It is a general discussion that simply states the opinion that the 2012 line up is not impressive, for general discussions we house such topics in the Off Topic forum. Just as when members announce that they have joined the board, they also are placed Off Topic. It is not because of the content/topic of discussion that it is moved. We have on the other hand, have had many members critique individual dolls, and because the discussion reviews dolls -- it is best suited for the Modern Forum. There are also a variety of stand-alone threads, that do not normally fit a category but is the exception. Discussions about Deals, This Just In and a variety of threads provide a wonderful place where members can share their latest purchases, etc., and are left the the Modern Forum because of popular demand. Regardless of where a topic ends up, members are more than welcome to discuss and post their opinions. Moving topics is like cleaning house, the dirty dishes could go into the bathtub but really are best placed in the kitchen sink. *smiles* If for any reason you believe there has been an error, you may Personal Message any of the Member Moderators -- who more than welcome your questions, comments, and suggestions.
