My Convention doll is ruined! :(

Hi Mattel, I bought one of the 2008 Funny Face Joie de Vivre dolls on ebay for a pricely sum, I love this outfit from the movie and am an avid Audrey fan. The box arrived damaged, okay, Ill get over this, great excuse for some well deserved doll play.

Well I deboxed the doll to undress, and to redress my Audrey(B'fast at Tiffany's doll in it.

Sure there was the inconvenience of having to unpick the outfit as it is sewn on, okay I can deal this that as I sew myself.

Horror of all horrors, the outfit was glued to the doll with double sided sticky glue tape, sure it peels off plastic, on removing the garment away from the dolls body the red material is completly stained, ruined and still sticky, I could cry!

Had I know I would have left this doll in the box, after all the trouble of unpicking the garment off the material is damaged beyond repair.

To add insult to a major injury, I went to take the shoes off, guess what, glued to the pantyhose! AAARRRGGGHH, and mysterious powder residue from the stocking had applied itself to the inside of the dolls outfit too!

I really would like an explanation of this, as I am too upset to speak, act or to respond in an irrational manner at all, Im just shocked!

Hi David. I'm so sorry to hear of your journey to dissappointment.

 

I'm pretty sure, too, that you won't get much of a response from anyone at Mattel as it was likely that the convention doll was probably not intended to be picked, peeled or unglued for redressing. I do admire your bravery and perseverance though to accomplish such a thing in your endeavor to redress.

 

Also, your unfortunate discovery might give warning to anyone else who might tend to want to redress too and would offer a courtesy of caution if you post this in Doll Customization as well.
