Guest clabies Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I have collected barbie for 30+ yrs. and silkstones from the start; but over the past few years the prices are making it really hard to continue! When the silkies 1st started each year there would be dolls in different price levels that allowed for more collectors to be able to get one depending on how much they could afford. Example of a release year: a basic doll($30-40) a mid level($50-80) a giftset($90-130) a formal($90-200+) Now it seems that $70+ is the starting point! What is going on? With the state of the economy you would think that mattel would take that into account and try to make it a little easier for their customers to remain loyal! I understand that the cost of things have went up; but the quality and workmanship has went down and as we all know everything just about is being made in china because companies have much lower overhead and manufacturing cost and use the people over there like slaves!! No way could they do what they do there here!! So come on mattel, treat us as if your livelyhood depended on it ( oh wait! it does!) and help us to help you! At the very least you could offer to sell club members the things you end up selling cheap at your outlet store in Ca. or for the prices you sell to closeout stores like big lots & tuesday morning. You would not lose any money and make your customers happy enough to continue being customers!! Anyone else feel this way?
