This am a post "the ugly truth" was removed. I don't understand why? It was members sharing the fears and hopes that come with hard economic times, something many members understand right now...it was not moved to another forum it was simply removed.

I have noticed that posts just keep being removed without comment. I know that Mattel has the right to do what it wishes on this site but I wonder if others are as bothered as I by the high handed way it is done. Censorship makes me unhappy, censorship without explanation makes my uncomfortable. Anyone else?
Question
When postings are removed should someone from mattel post why?

Ruth,

there are many reasons why topics are removed, and very few moderators to keep tabs on the board. We attempt to let people know when and where we can, but it's simply not practical to post a new topic each time something is removed from discussion.

We ask all our moderators to keep an eye on the discussions on the board, and respond to complaints and issues, as needed. In most cases, if a topic is moved off the board, it's due to complaints about that topic. More often, a post is simply moved to a differnt forum (Off Topic, for instance) as the subject under discussion isn't on topic for the forum in which it was posted. If a topic you've started or are interested in has been moved, be sure to search for that topic to see if it's still active, only in a different space. If it's been removed, you can always post here to complain or ask for explanation, though we often will only be able to confirm that the topic has been removed and will not be able to go into detail. (Just a note... since Member Complaints is closed for replies to moderators only, polls will not work within this forum).

Hope that helps to clarify things a bit.

thank you.
