Guest rooneygirl4201572397503 Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I used to post on the boards frequently and never had a problem with anyone. As time has passed, I've been more cautious about posting because some members feel the need to be snarky, rude, and just plain mean if, God forbid, anyone says anything incorrect or expresses an opinion that doesn't match theirs. I used to think a lot of members "lurked" on the boards simply because they didn't want to post, but lately I've seen a lot of members (yes, even moderators) who choose to talk down to other members like we're stupid. I don't appreciate being talked down to. And I certainly don't appreciate being made to feel like my statements or opinions make me stupid. I come here to talk to other collectors who love Barbie, not to be made to feel bad about myself and what I have to say. If this is the way the boards are going to be, I won't be posting, I may not rejoin next year, and Mattel doesn't need any more of my money.
Auntievern Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I am really sorry you feel this way. In a virtual environment (message board, texts, email, etc) tone is sometimes lost and miscommunication occurs. Granted there are some folks who are just plain ole rude and snarky know it alls, but I truly believe those members are few, but appear the most vocal especially in hot topics. It is up to all of us, myself and the other mods included, to be mindful of tone, use of sarcasm etc. in our dealings with each other. -- Veronica / AuntieVern ~ Member Moderator
