Guest collector_cottage Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Dear Valerie , I saw your post below to Lin from Oz and wish to clear up something you stated that you do occassionally create exclusive dolls for international markets......Ferrari 2005 was SUPPOSED to be an Int'l exclusive and was shown so on order sheets. Once the US dealers got wind suddenly that decision was reversed. The insinuation that Int'l collectors are given exclusives is not correct to any great extent. What was the last Int'l exclusive available? Nothing here in Australia that is certain! Mattel won't even give us in Australia our own unique convention doll for goodness sake! Our convenion organisers, of the Mattel licensed Australian BARBIE Club, have to buy dolls and rework the hair & clothing on over 100 of them! Thank you for your time - Lisa Scully
Guest BC ValerieC Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Mattel does create dolls that are specific to certain international markets. They are typically only promoted in those markets so someone outside of those specific markets wouldn't necessarily be aware of the existence of the doll. One current example is Inuit Legend Barbie which is currently available only in Canada. Additional international exclusives are also currently being planned for 2006.
