Guest sockmonkey1572385531 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I've just noticed that two of my recent posts have been deleted and I would appreciate an explanation. Let me rephrase that; I would like an explanation from the moderator who chose to anonymously delete my posts without explaining why they chose to do so. I've only noticed the two posts so far. If any others were also deleted, that will also require an explanation. OR an apology if they were deleted in error. I am only addressing the two posts as I am not about to sift through everything I've ever posted. If the contents of the posts were so repellent that they caused an outcry of indignation from the masses, I would have known by the responses to it. If a certain word or two somehow managed to slip through the word censor, couldn't just that one word be deleted and an explanation given? Having a post or two removed isn't the worst thing in the world; it's the anonymity of the moderator that really upsets me. It's frustrating to know that someone is hiding behind an avatar and a username to censor the contents of my posts. It seems as if common courtesy and respect would dictate an honest and direct approach. I am an adult with a good deal of mileage and I think I can handle it. Is there a sense of power and self-righteousness associated with being a moderator ? I wouldn't think so, but I also wouldn't think ANYTHING I posted on a doll board would be so controversial to the point of having my speech censored without an explanation or apology. Please don't send me a pm and PLEASE don't shovel that load of "This isn't a free speech board" down my throat. Please address this issue here in plain sight for all to see. Maybe we'll all learn a thing or two. Thank you for your time, William
Guest TOYBOX1572402193 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Dear Sockmonkey, The post in question stated inappropriate wording and was removed from the board as a result. The feature to edit member posts is unavailable, therefore posts with inappropriate wording are subsequently deleted. Please check your PM's! Thank you so much, Toybox

Guest BCCS JenM Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Hello William, most of the "business" that needs to be handled with one particular member (whether it is a moderating issue, a customer service issue, etc) is done with private messages so we are able to concentrate on assisting that member. Additionally, there are topics that can be sensitive and should be kept between the mods and the individual, so sending you a private message is absolutely the best method in contacting you specifically. This is a good practice to follow and will probably continue to happen this way. I suggest that you check your PM's and chances are you answers will lie within. Thanks! Jen M
