BRENDA74 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I didn't get to buy POP today, and I can't even begin to describe how sad I am over this. Since it has been admitted by the site itself that there were all these problems I think they should redo the sale to give everyone a fair chance at buying her. Because today we were denied that. If Mattel can't have the doll available at the specified time then they need to quit having these sales. Mattel has to honor their promise of having the doll available at the specified time. Having it availble for 5 minutes to a few people an hour later is not acceptable or fair. I ask Mattel to redo this sale, and honor it's promises about having it on time so that everyone gets a fair chance of getting her. It is the only fair thing to do at this point. I implore you Mattel now that a great mistake has been made to prove you are a responsible company to customers who have been spending hundreds of dollars for years on these wonderful dolls, and who have been waiting to buy this doll for months since it was unvieled to show your customers that you are responsible and will honor your promises. Please help us, Brenda 1000 and something posts trucking to 2000! Let's stay up and play with our Barbies all night! How am I supposed to find Mr. Right when each new Barbie keeps stealing my heart? :)
SHEREEM Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Brenda, we're sorry you were not able to purchase POP today. Unfortunately, it is not possible to redo the sale. This was posted by BCLou earlier today: Hi all… First things first… Pinch of Platinum is now sold out. Congrats to everyone that was able to purchase her. Having said that... as I’m sure you’re all aware, we experienced extreme difficulties with the sale today. There were lots of “oops” pages, lots of gateway timeout errors and lots of inability to complete your purchase. For what it’s worth, the Mattel team was on call in full force and working to address these issues from the moment they arose. We know there were issues with server capacity and server loads, but do not have any details at this time as to why we were unable to handle the expected traffic for this sale. (Sufficient server capabilities had been put in place to handle expectations, so we’re investigating underlying reasons to determine if there were issues above and beyond traffic and demand). We understand the frustrations that everyone who attempted to purchase today experienced and want to assure you that we are taking this seriously and looking to find answers so that we can prevent similar experiences in the future. Thanks all! BC LouE
MISSANNE53 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This is just the same old, same old with these sales--the site says, there's a problem, you keep trying, you finally get on, you get the doll in your cart, and the site keeps saying adding, adding, and you wait and wait and wait--only to be told your session's times out, and she's sold out. I called and spoke to a representative, who said, she was so sorry, they were having trouble with the site today--how long have you been doing this, Barbie Collector? and you still don't know you will have thousands of people trying for this doll and you aren't prepared for this??? I"m tired of being disappointed by this website, and will probably not renew my membership next year--the perks you get aren't worth the frustration.
Guest elmoscookie83 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I would just like to say that people should stop being so harsh with Mattel. These are just dolls not life lines please can we all act like the adult we are this make the members of BC look bad when all Mattel gets are complaints that are going in circles and repeating the same thing over and over. Please everyone bring it down a level and remember that you would not like to be treated the way you are treating everyone that is working so hard today to make this a good day for us.
JUDYRAE Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 With regards to POP selling out, that is just how these sales work. I tried to get the doll for a BFC friend, was not able to, life goes on & we will both survive. HOWEVER, the continuing issues with the Barbie Collector Shop are beyond ridiculous. I am not talking about the BFC forums, the glitches with the forums are small for most of us. The Barbie Collector Shop is another story. These crashes have been occuring for at least a year or two every time there is a big sale. It is a bit ridiculous (IMO) that a company as large as Mattel can not seem to get enough servers or whatever it takes to keep the site up & running during a sale event. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
