Guest MANNY1225 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 If a you buy a doll from here isnt it considered a collectible? I noticed that some dolls are not on the list to add to you collection, even though you buy it from Barbie Collector, like the Beonce'doll? My second question is, I bought a Benetton doll from an over-seas dealor, is this considered a collectible? I know that anything you collect is a collectible but I'm trying to understand the terms here. Thank you,
DEPP76 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Not all the dolls that are or were available here at BC.com are in the My Collection pages. I do know that you cannot add any playline dolls to your collection. Only the collectors edition dolls can be added, and not all of them are there either. Beyonce is considered a playline doll and that is why you cannot add her. It is true that all dolls are "collectible" of course...but they are also broken down into "collectors editions" and then into "playline". Dolls like the Hard Rock series and silkstone dolls for example are collectors editions dolls. Also any doll with the tier system...pink label, silver label, gold label, and platinum label are considered collectors editions. Then there are the dolls like Beyonce, Elmo Barbie, Minnie Mouse Barbie, etc for example...they are considered playline, and although they are "collectible", they are not "collectors editions" dolls...I hope this helps a little and that I didn't confuse you lol... P.S. - As far as the Benetton dolls are concerned... I believe that since the Benetton line is Fashion Fever, it would be considered playline. Don't quote me on that, but I do think that all Fashion Fever is playline... M i C h A e L : )
Guest MANNY1225 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 OK, that helps. I am confuses about the Benetton line since it appears to be no differennt from the MAC line( the concept anyway). But I understand. Thank you for the time.
Guest alexmarie Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Benetton is definitely part of the Playline Barbie line at Mattel. It is not part of the "Barbie Collecctor" label. As a rule, easiest way to see if a doll is considered playline or Collector is to look at the bottom (or side) of the box. If it says "Barbie Collector" then it is part of the Collector line, if it just says "Barbie" it is part of the Playline. All that said, many people collect playline dolls also, but even if they are offered for sale here (like some of the princesses, the superheros and some "Friends" of Barbie have been) they will not end up in the "My Collection" section of the board.
