Guest maryannwood58 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Why can't the pink, silver, gold and black label vinyl dolls have show/display boxes with ribbon ties like the silkstone dolls? It takes a long time and is quite annoying to debox a vinyl doll (and I usually end up tearing hair or the box). Also, some of the older dolls that I purchased online have wire marks on their feet and their hair bands have eroded. There must be a better way to box these dolls without sticking plastic through their heads. The boxes for the Pirate, LOTU and Macaw are wonderful - more boxes like these please!
Guest killerfoxx1572374478 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I like the plastic boxes as I dont debox vinyl dolls, but according to the poll I am the minority. The silkstone boxes to me are like a coffin and the only way it seems to enjoy the dolls as you cant display them is to debox, which is a shame. I guess someone would have to debox to know about this
Guest Jessms326 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I dont debox either so I like the plastic boxes.
Guest Morinth Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I think the current vinyl doll boxes are overkill. I mean, what is the DEAL? It shouldn't take 10 minutes to debox a doll, ferchrissakes. I think if the doll is attached at the waist and ankles, she's not going anywhere. Anything more than that is a packaging designer's overactive imagination.
LLEVINE Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I recently had to debox seven dolls and it was no fun at all. I like the cake boxes where you can display them in the box thru the window. Linda * Pink Heel * Member of the Central Carolina Fashion Doll Club (CCFDC)
JUDYRAE Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I would imagine that the main reason the clear vinyl boxes are used is so that customers can actually SEE what they are buying & the NRFB collectors can see what they are displaying. As a deboxer, I would prefer the plainest, smallest, most recyclable box that can be made because the plastic boxes can't be recycled & end up in the garbage can (one of the reasons I rarely buy vinyl dolls). Deboxing a doll & dealing with the twist ties, tach-its, rubber bands, etc is more than I want to work (another reason for buying fewer vinyls). The vinyl boxes scratch & bend very easily (yet one more reason to not buy vinyls) & end up looking crummy. I love the cake box types, but I remember back in the 1990's, some of the employees at TRU & other stores DREADED seeing Cindi & I come in. We wanted to see EVERY doll to make sure the one we got was the one we wanted. To do that, the employees had to take off the lid, fold back the tissue paper, etc which might not please the next person who wanted to buy an NRFB, box has never been opened doll. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
