Guest urrgghh1572377758 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Hi Mods, can anyone tell me if this watch was an officially licensed Barbie product? I'm definitely a completist when it comes to the BFMC but have only seen these on ebay? Any help here would be much appreciated. Thanks! Jim
JUDYRAE Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I have this watch. I got it at JC Penney during Christmas 2004. I love it, although I rarely wear it. The sales woman at Penneys told me they only received one per store, as far as she knew. The back of my watch says "Barbie Limited Edition 1848/2500. Made exclusively for Robert Best's Fashion Model Collection." Since the certificate says "Certificate of Barbie Authenticity", I have always assumed it was a licensed product. I have never seen another one like it. The original retail at Penneys was 99.99, but it was 30% off & they were having an additional 10% off coupon sale, so this was my Christmas gift to myself. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
Guest MOPOSH1572391012 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 That is a lovely watch and sounds like only 2500 were sold.
Guest BC_FrankieK Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Hi, Jim. I was able to find out that this watch was indeed an officially approved licensed item for Mattel/Barbie. I am not clear how many were produced as it was not a watch we sold thru the catalog or web site. Frankie
JUDYRAE Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I hope that only 2500 were produced & sold. I like having something that there aren't too many of. Now, if I just wasn't afraid to wear it. I am such a clutz, I would probably knock the sparklies out. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
