Guest AURAWHY Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 I'm clueless -- but i bet Dianaross can answer that!
CARINOH Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Do you know where I can find the fabric for the cut & style & flexible Barbies? Or what it's called? My barbies are my babies! I'm saving for Convention pivitols=high end, fashionistas=low end, articulated basics=middle! we need more basics! no more pink ribbons
Guest caty Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I've been told that there are 'fabric marts' in the area where the designers spend a lot of time studying new fabrics. Many of the fabric patterns are not in 'Barbie scale,' and I think Mattel has most of their own fabric especially made. Did you know that in the factories the layers of cloth are cut by a laser beam? caty
CARINOH Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I did not know that!(laser pointer) Caty, were you on a CAP panel once? My barbies are my babies! I'm saving for Convention pivitols=high end, fashionistas=low end, articulated basics=middle! we need more basics! no more pink ribbons

Carinoh, no, I've never been on the CAP panel. I was in one of the Focus Groups held at a Convention several years ago. Over the years, I've attended 17 of the 23 Barbie doll Conventions, and have gotten to know many of the Mattel staff. Some are no longer with the Company, others are still there. While at the Conventions, the staff works full time, but there are usually opportunities to get to know them personally in small groups. They are very good about answering our questions, but, also, cautious so as not to give away 'trade secrets.' One thing they will never tell you is the next doll or series of dolls, so we don't even ask! caty
