Boodle Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Okay can someone kind enough explain why some of the older silkies like Delphine and others have a sort of yellowing face compared to the rest of their body? Why does it happen to some and not all? Everything should be Pink!!
SHEREEM Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Delphine was prone to a graying face, in varying degrees. Some dolls had just a hint of discoloration, others were more grayish. This did not happen over time ~ her coloring remained the same as issued. There were several problem batches of Hollywood Bound, Siren and Ingenue dolls. While this did not affect all dolls, there was a voluntary exchange program available to those that wanted to send theirs back and receive a new doll in return. These are the only BFMC dolls that had a factory-produced issue. However, discoloration of any doll can happen based on the environment in which they are displayed or stored. While we refer to the doll as a whole as a 'silkstone', actually the head is a hard vinyl. The body is the silkstone material.
Boodle Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Could it be the hard vinyl having a chemical breakdown over time since it is just the heads turning that color and not the bodies? Everything should be Pink!!
SHEREEM Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 It was in the way the vinyl was prepared for the heads. And since the head (vinyl) and body (silkstone) are different materials, the body wasn't affected. The discoloration happened very rapidly on the Ingenue, Siren and HB dolls. Delphine had a grayish tint right from the factory.
Boodle Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Cool thanks for the info! Everything should be Pink!!
KATHIEC Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Red Hot Reviews was also recalled for yellowing.
luvmygrl Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I also have a replacement Ingenue with a very slight yellow cast. At least her box says she is replacement and she is still NRFB. Someone *might* have switched the outer box for various reasons, as she is a secondary market purchase... It's not super bad, just a slight bit of change when you look at her neck and face together. Posted by luvmygrl Someone must have switched boxes, this is first I have heard of any problems with the replacement dolls (other than green ear on Siren).
Guest srhiscott Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I was wondering how to tell the replacement from the original issue. You've just answered my question by stating it's on the box. Thank You!
