Guest cjwycoff Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This is my second year with the BFC and I must say as a collector or dolls of color I'm really disappointed with the lack of options. Why have we yet to see AA, Latin or Asian options with the club exclusives? Most of the Barbie I have added to my collection has been standard blond or sometimes brunette Barbie but the dolls of color are such slim pickings. It's things like this that have fans of collector dolls looking to other companies that offer collector dolls of color more regularly. We've only seen a very small number of dolls of color in collector line over the past few years. Basics 1.0 was the closest to offering multiple dolls of color but is that really the best Mattel can do for us? It would be really nice to see more of a "something for everyone" approach to the dolls being developed..I think I have enough blond Barbie to last me a while
Guest elmoscookie83 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I am fine with her being a CC because I feel GOG was not CC she looked ethnic IMO
Guest cjwycoff Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Oh I see. I guess I can't really see it with her blond hair and blue eyes. I just wish there were more abundantly clear ethnic dolls. G.O.G was gorgeous as are all the exclusive dolls but having ethnic options just gets overlooked time after time. Aside from the Byron Lars dolls that come out once a year I can't remember the last exceptional A.A doll to hit the collector market. Latin and Asian and Indian are grossly overlooked too...I don't get it.
Guest YUKIGABI2 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 The most beautiful ethnic dolls I have are FR dolls. I do get all of the ethnic dolls that are available from Barbie as well. Love Byron Lars dolls and can't wait for the next one. I't would be nice to see more ethnicities represented by Barbie. It tends to get boring.
Guest cjwycoff Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I would love to see that in collector line Yuki :) There's a bit more in playline but I really want more fashion driven collector lines that embrace more diversity! Seems like the Holiday AA dolls are the only thing we see regularly and that's once a year
Guest JAVAQUIS Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 maybe they just need to make another Platinum like the AA nurse. Took me long enough, but I got her too
Guest jchick7 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I think there is a lack of ethnic dolls period. Not just in the exclusives but in gold label and silkstone as well. It seems the Basics are the only real diverse collection. I really would LOVE to see a high end collection featuring multiple ethnicities like the basics only in the type of quality found in the gold label. I think offering at the minimum a CC and AA platinum each year would maybe help make a few more people happy. (There could be 999 of EACH) Then they are each platinum (since there's still less than a 1,000 of that ethnicity) but you'll have 1,998 people happy instead of just 999 Add in an Asian, Latina, and or Middle Eastern option to and you're going to have even more happy campers. Yet each doll will still have the rarity and value a platinum has because there are still a very small number of each type.
TONEO_1 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Well, I'd want her to be not a variation of a CC Barbie. It works for Nurse, because nurses wear uniforms. Back in the day, they wore matching uniforms. Byron Lars is the only high end AA dolls Mattel offers. They need to make a doll of him. They did Zac Posen. ~ TonY ~ "Treasure time well spent with loved ones for one day they will be gone."
Guest TIDUSU Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I myself, would love to see more variety in dolls ethnicities. I'm Vietnamese and love the Lea doll. Would be nice to see variety in each ethics at the same time. The S.I.S. is a good step but I agree with needing more high end dolls. I love Barbie but more variety means more happy customers. I love Barbie for the high end fashion and style. But after a while, you just see mostly blonde hair and blue eyes. While at it, more Ken friends would be nice. Basics is the best line so far that I truly love. Perhaps high end complete fashion pack is in order also?
Guest gooblyglob Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 In Response to Re: Why No Ethnic Option for P.O.P (or other club exclusive dolls)?: Byron Lars is the only high end AA dolls Mattel offers. They need to make a doll of him. They did Zac Posen. Posted by Toneo_1 That would be awesome! I think collector Ken (poor dude) along with dolls of color are seriously overlooked... I only have one Collector AA Ken doll - the 40th Anniversary Ken...
