Guest cnjp@worldnet.att.net Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Hi! The Holiday Barbie wearing the green dress in the Barbie Collector catalog, is this year's Holiday doll. The Holiday Barbie in the rose colored gown is exclusive to Sears and is identical to the doll wearing green (except of course for the dress color). The first 'official' collection of Holiday themed Barbie dolls was the Happy Holidays Series (1988-1998). In 1999, Millennium Princess Barbie was the Holiday doll. In 2000, the Celebration Series became the new Holiday series and continued through 2002. Holiday Visions became the new series in 2003. The first (and only doll) in that series was Winter Fantasy. You can see pictures of these dolls in the Special Occasion Barbie Showcase.
Guest heartpride Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 I want to start a collection for my daughter, I receive the Barbie Collector catalog and in it is the 2004 Holiday Barbie Doll wearing a green dress. I went on Ebay to see if I could get 1999 - 2003 Holiday Barbies to complete the set. This is where I get totally confused, first - I see a 2004 HBD wearing the same exact dress but in red? which one do I want? second - in 1999 there are so many different HBD's plus millenium dolls (all wearing different dresses some with ornaments). This happens in every year I've looked at, is there anyway to know which one is the official Holiday Barbie Doll for each year that I am missing also this years. Is the one in the catalog the one i want? If so then I guess next year etc.. I will order from it and see if there is a way to get the old catalogs to help me in my search. Any advise will be very helpful since I am new to Barbie collecting as you can see. Thank you very much for your time as I know my daughter will be thrilled to start a collection.
