Guest kricket-anne Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 What are OOAK barbies? What does OOAK stand for?
JUDYRAE Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Welcome to the BFC!! OOAK stands for One of a Kind Barbies. They are dolls that have been totally remade (new hairstyle/new makeup/new outfits/etc) by an artist or designer. There are some amazingly talented people out there who do stunning dolls. I have several OOAK dolls in my collection & they are my treasures. There are a lot of pictures of OOAK dolls in the photo forum that have been made for & by our members. We are lucky to have some very talented artists & designers here at the BFC. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
Guest kricket-anne Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 you can have them customer made? how can I do this? thanks for the info!!
JUDYRAE Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 You are very welcome. I think that any question you have can probably be answered by someone here at the BFC. There are different ways to get OOAK dolls. I have purchased all of mine directly from the artists at Barbie Convention. Many artist also do commissions. I know that shereem has several dolls that she has commissioned from Dan Lee. You can check out the Photo Forum for pictures of OOAK dolls. I am hoping to have Dan Lee do a commission for me later this year (when money is hopefully not quite so tight for us). Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
SHEREEM Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Welcome!! We hope you'll like it here! Like Judy said, there are wonderful OOAK artists that are members here (and others that aren't members). Some do reroots, some repaint, some do outfits and some, like Dan Lee, do all those things! My collection has been moving more toward OOAKs over the last few years. There is a wonderful thread here that contains our members OOAK dolls! OOAK dolls
