Guest blackiegracie Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Dear Mattel, Many of us adult collectors like to switch bodies on our Barbie dolls, depending on personal tastes, or ways of displaying them. It's difficult to get the heads off without damaging the head and/or body. I've become adept at switching heads, but it is more difficult than it need be. Would it be possible, for the collector edition dolls only, to not have that "safety hook" on the neck knob? The heads stay on perfectly well without the hook! I cut it off when I re-body a doll, and my childhood (60's & 70's) dolls did not have them at all. I realize that the design change was probably due to safety concerns for children (choking hazard). But... collector edition dolls are intended for adults, not children, so how about it Mattel? Maybe even sell nude bodies separately? Thanks Zoila

Guest blackiegracie Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Thanks Auntievern! Anyone - please share your thoughts with Mattel about this as well... Yes/ No? Good idea? Bad idea? Smiles Zoila
JUDYRAE Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I would love to see the hook thingy go away. I have a friend who does the re-bodying for me because I am afraid I will break something. Collect what you love & you will love your collection. Bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry.
TONEO_1 Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I don't like it, but it needs to be there for dolls with heavy hair. ~ TonY ~ "Treasure time well spent with loved ones for one day they will be gone."
luvmygrl Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Yes, I think bodies/parts should be available for purchase separately. Because if your favorite doll happens to break or something along those lines, you have to purchase a totally brand new doll, not to mention get the skin tone right if the original doll is no longer in production. And how hard would it be to color code the skin tones? Original set up for a data base would be the most work, maintaining it would be easy. I think Mattel should start selling extra bodies/parts for the collector market. They need to keep up with their competition! Guest replicant791572392943 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 My suggestion: Basic & Fashionistas use the same size head (Basic's) and use the Fashionista body. Limit it to eight skintones: ivory, pink, light tan, tan, dark tan, light brown, dark brown and charcoal. This should cover most combinations. Part of the Basic's creed is 'play'. How can you play it the doll just stands there. With a Fashionista, you can set up dioramas and photo stories.
Guest TOYBOX1572402193 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 The board is a wonderful place to share feedback -- this is a very good suggestion -- where designers such as Bill Greening to marketing review member requests & suggestions.
Danny Carrington Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I would be very happy if the online shop and showcase indicated which body sculpt dolls have. I'd also like to suggest that a code be placed on each box - perhaps on the bottom - which would tell potential buyers which body sculpt and "skintone" that doll has. Maybe letters for bodys and numbers for colors. As an example a doll with the model muse body and palest skintone would have a code "M1", a belly button body in a darker color would have a code "B4".
