Guest JAVAQUIS Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I never was very big on DC comics, and have actually stopped collecting Marvel. I still read them on occasion, so I'm curious, why has Mattel never done the Marvel women (or men)? I mean, a Storm, Jean Grey and Kitty Pride would be so cute!!! A jubilee using the new Skipper body would be most excellent, and either a Wolverine or Nightcrawler using the new BB boys. I do realize both Nightcrawler and Jean are dead in the Marvel universe (as far as I know). Thanks to Disney XD, most people would recognize these characters. So how about it? Get the licensing, forget the DC issues, and gimme some X-Men!
KELLYANNE Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I like this idea. I read more Marvel than DC. My favorite characters were Kitty Pryde, Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Storm.
TONEO_1 Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I like DC, but like Marvel too. Love to have Rogue, Gambit, and Storm and many others. ~ TonY ~ "Treasure time well spent with loved ones for one day they will be gone."
Guest pattidolls Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Didn't Disney just buy the rights to Marvel characters?
Guest JAVAQUIS Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Googling this yielded some info: August 31, 2009, Walt Disney Company (DIS) has agreed to acquire Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (MVL) in a stock and cash transaction. "Disney is the perfect home for Marvel's fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses," said Ike Perlmutter, Marvel's Chief Executive Officer. The above dated info and quote came from the offical press release, according to a comics website. Given the amount of shelf space Disney princesses and company take up, I don't see why Mattel can't join in. I kept reading, and while Disney isn't getting involved in current licenses, they would plan to have some oversight in the future. The merger expands both the Disney brand and presents options for exploration of other characters beyond the Hulk, Ironman, X-Men and Spiderman movies. Since Mattel already makes Snow White and other Disney dolls, this seems like a perfect opportunity. Granted, I don't want a "princess-ized" Storm or Rogue, but well done representations would be lovely.
Guest cindywonderbarbie1572377760 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Actually there have been Marvel dolls. They were down in playline versions about 3-4 years ago. They were: Mary Jane dressed in her wedding gown to Spidey Invisible Woman Elektra I hope the info. helps
Guest JAVAQUIS Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 great. Then we still need X-Men titles represented.
Guest bendlegmidge Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I read X-Men when I was in High School, but moved on to other titles as I got older. I did pick up the Amazing X-Men when Joss Whedon and Warren Ellis were writing for it, but stopped reading after those runs. I mostly read Dark Horse, Oni Press and Vertigo titles now, but I would love an Ororo (Storm) Barbie doll, as she was my favorite X-Men character. I'd love to see her done with the Nichelle Model of the Moment face mold. Kitty Pryde (with Lockheed, of course!), Jean Grey and Emma Frost would make great dolls too! Dawn
KELLYANNE Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I used to read x-men. I started with 140 quit about 260. My son has started watching Wolverine and the X-men and I will admit I like Emma Frost there a lot more in those comics. I have no idea what is going on now with her.
