Based on a ’49 Volkswagen Beetle, our Kawa-Bug-A casting debuted last year. After just one appearance, we offered it as an option in our first sELECTIONs poll of 2023 – and it rode a wave of popularity with members’ votes.
In the following rounds, Spectraflame magenta and Real Riders steelie wheels surfaced as winning options for this exclusive edition. When the polls were completed, our graphic designer Steve “Van” Vandervate dug into this Bug and developed the details that make this release more than a winner. With an opening rear hood and removable surfboard, your pick is ready for the beach. We even packed it in a clear acrylic case to sun itself.
This item is made to order, but you’ll need to place your pre-order during the period from June 20 – July 3. Since the purchase quantities are unlimited, you can collect as many as you want. Just be aware that they won’t be delivered for several months.

Important Terms and Conditions Applicable to Purchase of Made-to-Order Item:
Orders for the made-to-order item will be taken from June 20, 2023, at 9 AM PT until July 3, 2023, at 9PM PT (the “sale window”), with no purchase limits. Mattel may close the sale window early at its sole discretion. A charge will be placed on your payment account and will be processed on the date you place your order. You may cancel your order during the sale window by calling Customer Service. After the sale window ends, all orders are final.
The made-to-order item’s expected ship date will be displayed on the item’s product page in our online shop and may be up to a year from your order date. You will be notified before your order ships, and provided with instructions if you need to update your shipping address. If the expected shipping date changes, and the revised date is more than 30 days after the original expected shipment date, you’ll be notified of the new expected shipping date and have the opportunity to request a refund if desired.
